Growing up

THE TODDLER PROGRAM AT JUBILEE

We understand that caregivers of Toddlers must continue to provide a safe, responsive, consistent, loving and supportive environment. Our toddlers are busy mastering walking, running, and other gross and fine motor skills in a classroom designed to encourage independence and socialization. Here, they begin to establish friendships and self-help skills such as dressing themselves and eating with utensils, and their language skills develop rapidly! Toddlers begin to show a genuine interest in other children but their play is characteristically parallel rather than interactive. Our teachers are trained to guide them through choosing an activity that interests them and then allowing them to explore independently. They gain confidence by using their words and thoughts to interact in a group setting. Their day is filled with hands-on activities that are engaging and interesting to active toddlers. They have many activities to choose from such as building, painting, sand and water play, play dough, and housekeeping. Our Toddlers are assigned a primary caregiver to assist with all of their individual needs and their schedule is still based on their unique feeding and sleeping schedule.

From one of our families

"Kyleigh absolutely loves goes to Jubilee Kids 3 days a week. She would go all week if it wasn't for us telling her she has to go to her Mema's. She comes home learning new things all the time. I'm amazed at her understanding of the world at such a young age. Her vocabulary has expended tremendously and at 4 she's able to write small words and her name beautifully. Kyleigh is very much a momma's girl and nearly every time I drop her off she does not want me to leave. In many cases she cries and begs for "one more hug". The teachers at Jubilee will help me with this process and take Kyleigh from me to ease the goodbye. Soon enough she's enjoying her day. It's so cute, she calls the other children at Jubilee "her kids" and tells me "I'm going to see my kids today". I'm happy to have found a place where she feels comfortable and is always wanted to come back to day after day. Thank you for all that you do!"

Toddlers and play: A critical step in healthy development

As they master their world, play helps children develop new competencies that lead to enhanced confidence and the resiliency they will need to face future challenges. Undirected play allows children to learn how to work in groups, to share, to negotiate, to resolve conflicts, and to learn self-advocacy skills.

Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important to healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them. Play allows children to create and explore a world they can master, conquering their fears while practicing adult roles, sometimes in conjunction with other children or adult caregivers.

Ms Laurie, Toddler Teacher

"I love watching them learn new ways to accomplish a task!  Its amazing to watch them be able to problem solve on their own."
